ジニア・リネアリス Zinnia linearis

一年草　　キク科ジニア属　　原産地　南北アメリカ
開花期　６～１１月　　花径２０ｍｍ位　　草丈３０ｃｍ位まで
リネアリス(linearis)とは、ラテン語で「細い線のような」という意味で、葉が細いことによります。そしてジニアは百日草です。鮮やかな他のジニア(百日草)にはない細い葉と茎。そして余り大きくならず、一重で小花を枝分かれした先に、たくさん咲かせる特徴があります。花色は白、橙、黄色など豊富です。花期が長く、霜が降りるくらいまで咲き続けます。このジニア・リネアリス(Zinnia linearis)と、ジニア・エレガンス　を交配した演芸品種が、ジニア・プロフュージョンです。また、コモン・ジニア(Common zinnia)と呼ばれる百日草も同じ仲間です。寒さにも、虫にもうどん粉病にも強いそうです。
