野茨（のいばら）Rosa multiflora

つる性落葉低木　　　ばら科ばら属　　　原産地　日本、朝鮮半島
開花期　５～６月　　花径　３cm位　　　樹高３mまで
野の荊(いばら)で、刺のある低木・植物の意味から来ているそうです。北海道から九州までと、朝鮮半島に分布します。日当たりのよい山野、林縁、河原などに生えます。枝の端に白色または淡紅色の５弁花を散房状につけます。ご覧のとおり満開はとてもきれいです。ただ、私的には、枯れた花びらが残り目立つのが残念なのですが、でも、これが自然のようです。葉は表面に艶がなく、卵状の楕円形で奇数の羽状複葉です。細かい鋸歯があり、触れられません。 ９～１１月頃赤い実をつけ熟し、その実は微かに甘いそうです。また、この果実は寫下薬、利尿薬になるそうです。バラの園芸品種に房咲き性をもたらした原種で、日本では接ぎ木の台木に使用されています。
[別名]野薔薇（のばら）「のいばら」と読むこともあるそうです。
